New Gillett Civic Group Scholarship Fund
The Board of Directors for the Gillett Civic Group has established a new Scholarship Fund! A portion of the Proceeds from all Gillett Civic Group events will benefit this new endeavor. Thus far we have voted to provide one $500 scholarship per semester for 4 years. Criteria and application to be announced at a later date and will be posted to this site as soon as possible. The Gillett Civic Group will hold the 4th annual Heritage Days Festival. Kids will enjoy old fashion pioneer activities provided by the Arkansas Post Museum as well as other kids activities held at Menard Heritage Park on the West end of Main Street in Gillett. There are several competitions to enter this year including the addition of our Lawnmower/ATV Pull! Check out the FUN below!!!

We will be selling Festival T-shirts again this year with the 2012 Steamboat Logo at the Heritage Days Pageant; The Lawnmower/ATV Pull and of course all day Saturday during the Festival!

2011 R.A.V.E. a huge success!
It’s that time again! Our 3rd annual R.A.V.E. Benefit Dinner & Auction has been set for Saturday, November 5th at Buckshot Lodge.
This year’s theme is “Stetsons & Stilettos!” So gentlemen please wear your stetsons & sportscoats and ladies lets get all dolled up for a fun evening to benefit the new Gillett Civic Group Scholarship Fund as well as other community projects sponsored by our group. This year’s R.A.V.E. is going to be even better with live entertainment and lots of unique auction items for bid. The evening’s events are below:

The Gillett Civic Group invites everyone to enjoy the “Fireworks Extravaganza” at Menard Heritage Park on Monday July 4, 2011!
The fireworks display will kick off at 9:00 pm sharp! This year’s show is even bigger and better!

The City of Gillett, Arkansas Post National Memorial and State Museum and Gillett Civic Group, Inc. present Christmas Past & Present Saturday, December 11, 2010.

Those interested in participating in this year’s Christmas Parade can pick up an entry form at Gillett City Hall or call Jennifer Lowe at 870-548-2541. There is no entry fee and we welcome all participants. The line up begins at 10:15 am on Leslie Street. There will be cash prizes for the top three winning entries. SMOKED CHICKEN LUNCHEON!!!
Please join us at the Gillett Fire Department for a Smoked Chicken Dinner. Minimum donation of $7.00 per plate. Take-Out orders are available and you may call 548-2541 if you need delivery. Proceeds will benefit the Civic Group to help fund the Heritage Days Festival and City improvement projects.
Charter School News
The Gillett Heritage Academy charter school application was submitted on August 31, 2010. The application has been reviewed by the State Board of Education’s review committee. Representatives of the Gillett Civic Group will meet with the review committee on October 22, 2010 to answer any remaining questions about the GHA application.
The State Board of Education will hold a public meeting on November 8, 2010 in Little Rock at which a vote to approve or disapprove the charter application will be heard. We encourage all supporters of GHA to attend this meeting.
The Civic Group Directors and members are excited about this year’s application and our proposal to offer Entrepreneurship as an enhanced learning model to provide extra skills to all students of GHA in addition to learning the Collegiate model.

The R.A.V.E. Benefit Dinner & Auction
The Gillett Civic Group will host the 2nd annual R.A.V.E. Benefit Dinner and Auction on Saturday - November 6, 2010 at 5:30 pm at Buckshot Lodge in Gillett.
The event was a huge success last year and we plan for it to be a grand fundraising event this year as well!
Tickets for this event are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling a civic group member or call Jennifer Lowe at City Hall 870-548-2541. The ticket price includes the following:

Gillett Heritage Academy
The Gillett Civic Group has successfully submitted the 2010 Open-Enrollment Public Charter School Application for Gillett Heritage Academy to the Arkansas State Board of Education.

Our 2010 GHA application has been reviewed by the State Board of Education and our response was delivered to the Charter School Office on September 29th.
The public hearing at the State Board of Education will be in November and the date and time will be posted as soon as we find out. We encourage all those who support GHA to attend this meeting.
Gillett Charter School Public Meeting - Dumas
We will be having a public meeting in Dumas at the Community Center on Thursday~ July 29th from 6:30 to 8:00.
We will familiarize parents with the Gillett Civic Group and its goals as well as present an overview of our application. There will be handouts with parent surveys and a Q & A time. We encourage everyone to attend.
